Laurence Hearne

With over 35 years of industry and advising experience, Laurence is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) at GCR Financial Pty Ltd T/As Mettam Hearne Financial Solutions.

Laurence began his career as an insurance agent with Colonial Mutual in 1982 and worked through all the legislative changes in the financial services industry to become a CFP in 2003.

Over 35 years ago, Laurence founded Mettam Hearne Financial Services in Tamworth and today he still enjoys establishing relationships with clients and helping them solving their needs and achieve their financial goals.

With extensive experience, Laurence specialises in Estate planning, Superannuation including Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF’s) and Personal Insurances. While Laurence has a varied client base, he often works closely with farmers and small business owners across the New England region.

Outside of work, Laurence enjoys spending time with his wife Elizabeth, their four children and seven grandchildren. He loves to travel, and exploring Peru and Machu Picchu has been a travelling highlight. At the age of 55, Laurence achieved a lifelong dream of learning the bagpipes. After only 8 years, another dream was realised when he made the Tamworth Pipe Band.

He is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), holds a Diploma of Financial Planning (Dip. FP), is a registered Tax (financial) Adviser with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) and is also a Justice of the Peace (JP).

John Green

With a career spanning over 41 years, John Green is an experienced Certified Financial Planner (CFP) at GCR Financial Pty Ltd T/As John Green Financial Services.

John started his career as a Life Insurance salesman and Collector agent and, after winning many awards, was quickly promoted to Sales Manager in Bathurst, NSW. John’s passion for the industry and exceptional leadership meant he continued to be promoted, firstly to Wollongong as Regional Manager and then to Divisional Leader for the New England area in 1984. He has been in Tamworth ever since. It is in Tamworth that he founded John Green Financial Services.

John specialises in the areas of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF’s), Retirement and Estate Planning and Aged Pension advice.

Outside of work, John enjoys being involved with Rotary, where he has been President on seven occasions and Assistant Governor for two years. He is currently the treasurer of the Tamworth West Rotary Club. As well as playing the trumpet in several bands, he was a keen golfer.

John has been a member of the Finance Planning Association (FPA) since 1998 and has spent many years as the chair for the New England Chapter where he is still on the committee. John is also a Justice of the Peace (JP).

Benjamin Mettam

Since completing his Bachelor of Financial Administration in 2003, Ben has had over 15 year of extensive financial industry experience and is an Associate Financial Planner (AFP) at GCR Financial Pty Ltd t/as Mettam Hearne Financial Solutions.

Ben is passionate about helping people achieve the work/life balance they want, on their terms. He follows this advice himself; being highly active in local community theatre groups as both a Director and a performer. With a specialised interest in Risk and Personal Insurances, Ben works closely with his clients to help them address their needs and achieve their financial goals. He believes it is the relationship with his client and his dedication to ensuring they achieve their goals that sets the business apart.

Ben is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), holds a Bachelor of Financial Administration (BFA), a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning). Ben is also a registered Tax (Financial) Adviser with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) and is a Justice of the Peace (JP).

Louise Jealous-Bennett

Louise has been providing financial advice for over 12 years. In 2009, Louise purchased Chris Palmer and Associates, a prominent local advice business founded in 1978 in Bundaberg, Qld. The business was rebranded as C2G Financial Services. C2G is an acronym for ‘Cradle to the next Generation’ which encompasses client’s life cycles.

In 2016, C2G Financial Services became a part of the GCR Financial Pty Ltd, (GCR Financial Pty Ltd T/As C2G Financial Services) which meant the business could continue to grow by giving clients the opportunity to have a planning practice that is self-licensed as well as giving clients access to personalised portfolio management via pro-active investment management (AIM+O).

Louise is a senior adviser and she specialises in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF) and Estate Planning. Louise has an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning; a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) and a Masters of Accounting. Louise supports the education standards for Financial Planners and is currently an associate member (AFP member) of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA). She is also completing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification.

As a member of the Financial Planning Association, Louise is passionate about Financial Planning and contributes to her professional body in a volunteer capacity as the Wide Bay Chapter Chair.

Louise is a member of the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). As an Accountant who specialises in Financial Planning, she is future focused and is pro-active for her clients.

Louise believes in give back to the community and volunteers her spare time as the Bundaberg Rowing Club Treasurer. In this role she assists with the ongoing growth of the sport of rowing in the region, as well as the Bucca Rowing and Accommodation centre. Applying her professional skills, she was recently successful in winning a grant for the rowing club that secured over $500,000 towards the development of the Bucca facility. The grant will also assist in funding new pontoons in the town shed on the Burnett River.

Louise looks after clients from all over Australia as well as overseas as they relocate. She thoroughly enjoys her role as senior Financial Adviser and SMSF specialist. Louise finds her work extremely rewarding and finds it gratifying to see how professional financial advice can make significant improvements to her client’s lives.

Christopher Palmer

Chris Palmer has over 40 years industry experience and specialises in financial and retirement planning advice including Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs).

He has a Bachelor of Arts, Diploma of Financial Planning as well as a Diploma of Insurance. In 2004, Chris became a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He is also a Fellow of the Australian Life-writer Association (F ALA).

Chris commenced his career as a National Mutual Insurance Agent and has worked through many changes in the financial services industry. His dedication to establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with his clients is evident as the next generation become his latest clients.

In 1978, Chris founded C2G Financial Services (formally known as Chris Palmer Insurance Agent) in Bundaberg, Queensland. Chris has won many industry awards as a financial planner including AXA Queensland Financial Planner of the Year in 1994.

Chris looks after clients from all over Australia and thoroughly enjoys his role as Senior Financial Planner at GCR Financial Pty Ltd T/as C2G Financial Services. Chris finds his work very rewarding, and after dealing with many of his clients for over 40 years, he finds it gratifying to see the positive changes to their lives knowing he has played a part in these changes.

GCR Financial (GCR) recognizes that your privacy is very important to you – it is to us as well. We handle personal information provided by and about people every day. In the course of our activities we collect and hold personal information of our clients. Our main purposes for collecting that personal information include to assess the financial needs and requirements of our clients, to update our records and for marketing purposes.

We will only collect personal information from you that is necessary to assess your personal financial planning needs.

We will only collect personal information from you by lawful and fair means, without being unreasonably intrusive, such as when you complete an application or update form etc.

At or before the time we collect personal information from you we will take reasonable steps to inform you why we are collecting that personal information, who else we might disclose that personal information to and what will happen if you do not provide personal information to us.

Where reasonable and practicable, we will only collect personal information about you, from you.

Wherever it is lawful and practicable, we will give you the option of not identifying yourself or not providing personal information when dealing with us. However, failure to provide full and complete information we request may mean that we are unable to provide services to you fully and properly.

Once we hold personal information we will take reasonable steps to keep it accurate, complete and up-to-date.

Use and disclosure

We will only use your personal information for the main purpose we told you it was needed for, except where you consent to us using that personal information for another purpose, where the other purpose is related to the main purpose and you would reasonably expect us to use the personal information for that other purpose, or where it is permitted or required by law, or we reasonably believe it is necessary on health or public safety grounds to use the personal information for another purpose.

In relation to direct marketing, where practicable we will seek your consent before we use your personal information for this purpose. You may tell us at any time you do not wish to receive any further direct marketing materials – if you do, we will stop sending you such materials.

In accordance with the Spam Act, should you wish to unsubscribe from commercial electronic messages from GCR, all future commercial electronic messages from GCR will enable you to unsubscribe from that particular type of electronic message and this can be done at any time. If you do not unsubscribe, GCR will continue to send you relevant information of the types described above.

We will not adopt as our own any identifiers that you may provide to us such as Tax File Numbers etc.

Access and correction

If you ask, we will tell you what personal information we hold about you, and what we do with it. We will facilitate access to you by allowing an inspection of your personal information in person, or by providing copies or a summary of relevant documents, depending on what is most appropriate in the circumstances, following receipt of your request.

If you can show us that the personal information is inaccurate, we will take reasonable steps to correct it. Note that we need not provide access to personal information in several types of situation, for example where a request is frivolous, or where to provide access would pose a threat to health or public safety, unreasonably interfere with another person’s privacy, or be a breach of the law. If we refuse access we will advise you of our reasons for doing so.


We will protect personal information from misuse and loss, and destroy or permanently de-identify personal information we no longer need.

Complaints resolution

We are committed to providing clients, whose personal information we hold, a fair and responsible system for the handling of their complaints.

We will seek to address any concerns that you have through our complaints handling processes, but if you wish to take matters further you may refer your concerns to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
